Writers - time to delve into world building and creating the compelling foundations from which your play can thrive.
Join Josh Azouz for a practical workshop that explores the engine of a play. Exercises will focus on three motors - story, character & idea. We will investigate how to deploy these motors in order to create distinct worlds onstage.
Josh Azouz is an award-winning writer working across stage, screen and radio. His work has been produced across the UK, US & Australia. Plays include: Gigi & Dar (Arcola Theatre), Kiss / Marry / Push Off Cliff (National Theatre Connections), The Get (BBC Radio 3), Once Upon A Time In Nazi Occupied Tunisia (Almeida Theatre), The Mikvah Project (Orange Tree Theatre, Yard Theatre & BBC Radio 4), Buggy Baby (Yard Theatre). TV includes: The Box (MGM/NENT) & The Night After (Headlong / BBC 4). Josh is writing new plays for the Kiln, RSC, Second Half Productions, and developing features for UFA and MMXX films.

Offering affordable training is at the heart of SCRUM’s charitable objectives, which is why we have different ticket price tiers. We encourage you to pay what you can based on the below descriptors:
£12 - Subsidised ticket price - You have limited expendable income** and need to opt for the lowest cost option. If this ticket price is a barrier to access, we always have a number of bursary places and travel stipends available for all of our programmes. Simply email workshops@scrumtheatre.co.uk.
£15 - Subsidised ticket price- You have some expendable income and can meet basic needs, even if there may be occasional financial stress
£20 - Full ticket price - You have a comfortable amount of expendable income, do not face financial barriers and are able to cover the full cost of the event ticket.
*BASIC NEEDS include food, housing, clothing and transportation.
**EXPENDABLE INCOME might mean you are able to buy coffee or tea at a shop, go to the cinema or a concert, buy new clothes, books and similar items each month, etc,
