Posted: 2 March 2026
From March 2026, SCRUM Theatre will be the Resident Company at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith. This marks the end of our time at 191 Talgarth Road, and the beginning of an exciting phase for our organisation’s development.

This year-long Residency at Riverside Studios will allow us to expand and deepen the impact of our performance and education programmes.
Riverside Studios is just around the corner from 191 Talgarth Road, our base for the last two years – so we’re not wandering anywhere too far.
We are so proud of the work we accomplished at this site. Our small team, with the help of many pairs of hands, succeeded in transforming a long-empty former archives building into a thriving hub for the arts, in order to meet the needs of artists seeking affordable space and training to develop their work.
It has been our great pleasure to work alongside artists every day, and to bear witness to the quality, bravery and aliveness of the work they have produced under 191's roof.

Our studio bookings at 191 Talgarth Road will wind down on 10th March, and we'll be handing in the keys on 13th March.

The first thing visitors to the Riverside will notice is that we'll be bringing the SCRUM Theatre x Nick Hern Books Resource Library along with us.
The Library is one of the only dedicated script libraries left in London that is open to the public.
Thanks to Nick Hern Books, it is stocked with a particularly rich selection of new writing from around the world. Like us, the team at Riverside Studios is keen to keep this resource accessible and free. Now our Library visitors will have the added pleasure of reading these titles by the banks of the Thames.

Our Studios team is still taking bookings right up until Tuesday 10th March. Any bookings prior to 10th March are continuing uninterrupted.
After the 13th March, our fantastic studios team will be working closely with the Riverside Studios crew, and will be on hand to help find you space there if you are looking for rehearsal spaces. Please email Rousha at studios@scrumtheatre.co.uk, and she will help connect you up with options at Riverside. -
Yes, we will continue to do what we have always done: run affordable workshops for theatremakers. Thanks to the support of Hawthornden Foundation, H&F Council and our friends around the corner at Riverside Studios, we will soon be announcing our next season of workshops, as well as a multi-year initiative for young writers. We encourage you to sign up to our newsletter and follow us on Instagram to stay in the loop.
In the meantime, let us know: what workshops would you like to see next? Email workshops@scrumtheatre.co.ukwith your ideas and desires. We want to offer what you need.

We are in active conversations to open a new studio space in the not-too-distant future. We aim to have exciting news for you in the coming months.
In the meantime, the residency at Riverside gives us the time and opportunity to find the next space that will be right for our programmes, while we reflect on all our learnings from 191 Talgarth Road and exchange insights with other organisations we admire.

No existing SCRUM projects will be impacted by this news including our flat-pack theatre. We are delighted to share that the move to Riverside gives us the resources to expand the depth and reach of all of our existing performance and outreach projects according to their pre-existing timelines.
If you are a supporter of any kind, and would like more information about how this news impacts the projects you are helping, please contact our Artistic Director Lucie Dawkins at lucie@scrumtheatre.co.uk.
